WikiProject Articles for creation needs your help! | |
WikiProject Articles for creation has done a tremendous job in working at WP:AFC over the past 7½ months. Thank you all for your hard work and dedication! Together, we've made the submission process easier and more streamlined, developed tools to make the process go faster for reviewers, and cut the backlog down to a mere fraction of what it once was. Well done! As you all are aware, however, our work is not quite yet done. The project still has 10 archive pages left to complete, which include over half a month's worth of submissions, many of which have not been completely reviewed. We need your help to finish looking over these neglected submissions so that we can finally remove the backlog notice from the page, and put an end to the more than two year old backlog that has been a thorn in our side for ages! Participants will receive an AFC Barnstar, so hurry up and help out while there's still work to be done! Make sure to sign in on the WikiProject's talk page so we know who is involved in what promises to be our final effort to complete this goal. Thank you for all your help! |
You are receiving this letter because you are listed as a participant in the Articles for creation WikiProject at WP:WPAFC. To avoid receiving further notices, please remove your name from the list. Thanks!
RFA
[edit]Thanks for participating in my RFA, which closed successfully with 40 supports, 13 opposes, and 4 neutrals. For those of you who supported my RFA, I greatly appreciate it. For those who did not, I'm also thankful for your constructive criticism. If you need some advice or have some pointers for me, you know where to reach me! A special thank you to Majorly for all his time and effort he has placed in my nomination. Once again, thank you all for your helpful comments. Now off to new admin school! er, um
[edit]Hi, per this the user does not seem to be making any "good faith" edits. Instead they seem to be deliberatively adding defamatory statements on biographies and their history suggests they've done so for a while. Please consider calling something vandalism if it seems to be, even saying "this seems to be vandalism" would have been more neutral, IMHO. Adding false information on articles is quite harmful to the project's reputation. Benjiboi 06:32, 4 March 2008 (UTC)
- Oh, sorry about that. That was sort of mistake, It was a reflex action. I was not sure if it was vandalism and I use
Rollback (AFG)
for things that are unhelpful but not vandalism. It did actually come to me that I should have used the Undo button just as I clicked the link but by that time I could not reverse the process. -Icewedge (talk) 02:38, 6 March 2008 (UTC)
Hi. I appreciate your work on the above article. I've added some more references and would appreciate it if you could flesh the article out a bit. Cheers, Jack Merridew 07:55, 8 March 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks, I will try my best to improve that article. I don't think we will be able to save it from deletion at this time though, there is just too much negative momentum and too many un-thought out pro-deletion votes on the current AFD. Hopefully we can get it overturned later at the deletion review. -Icewedge (talk) 21:33, 8 March 2008 (UTC)
RFA thanks

Thanks for your support on my request for adminship, which passed 92/2/2. I'll learn the ways of the mop, and be sure to live up to the expectations of the community. ♬♩ Hurricanehink (talk) 04:06, 18 March 2008 (UTC) |

[edit]Thanks for taking my survey. Are you Bea's bro? If you have a little time, I was wondering if I could ask you a few more questions, either by email or Google chat or something. Would you let me know if you'd be willing/able? Thanks! AMQ815 23:30, 12 April 2008 (UTC)
Welcome to the Military history project
[edit]Hi, and welcome to the Military history WikiProject! As you may have guessed, we're a group of editors working to improve Wikipedia's coverage of topics related to military history.
A few features that you might find helpful:
- Our navigation box points to most of the useful pages within the project.
- The announcement and open task box is updated very frequently. You can watchlist it if you're interested; or, you can add it directly to your user page by including {{WPMILHIST Announcements}} there.
- Most important discussions take place on the project's main discussion page; it is highly recommended that you watchlist it.
- The project has several departments, which handle article quality assessment, detailed article and content review, writing contests, article logistics, and other tasks.
- We have a number of task forces that focus on specific topics, nations, periods, and conflicts.
- We've developed a style guide that covers article structure and content, template use, categorization, and many other issues of interest.
- If you're looking for something to work on, there are many articles that need attention.
- The project has a stress hotline available for your use.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask one of the project coordinators, or any experienced member of the project, and we'll be happy to help you. Again, welcome! We look forward to seeing you around! Woody (talk) 13:43, 23 April 2008 (UTC)

Did you try purging the cache before you reverted the changes to Template:Mod? It was working when I left it, but you might have had a bad cached copy. —Remember the dot (talk) 23:43, 10 May 2008 (UTC)
- (replying to User talk:Remember the dot#Template:Mod) - OK, thanks for the info and thanks for cleaning up my mess. —Remember the dot (talk) 22:46, 11 May 2008 (UTC)
- (replying to User talk:Remember the dot#Template:Mod) - I'm uncomfortable increasing the protection level because we've never had a problem with it. By the way, what are the differences between Template:Mod and the mod ParserFunction? —Remember the dot (talk) 00:34, 12 May 2008 (UTC)
- (replying to User talk:Remember the dot#Template:Mod) - OK, thanks for the information. The template is now fully protected. —Remember the dot (talk) 04:28, 12 May 2008 (UTC)
I'm replying to your message about the speedy deletion of Effex. How can I prove that it fits the criteria? (I read the article, but don't understand it fully. Is it basically saying that if I get source(s) such as a website that I publish which talks about myself and my hobbies, and reference it on the wiki page, it wont be deleted?) Re from my talk
[edit]No problem. But you might also wish to let the RfA candidate know it was removed, if you haven't done so already. It's one of the steps at WP:crat. :) SynergeticMaggot (talk) 02:30, 13 May 2008 (UTC)
- I had also put the RfA in the log here, after its been closed. SynergeticMaggot (talk) 02:38, 13 May 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for reverts
[edit]I appreciate your protecting the integrity of entries. I worked very hard on a recent one that had two huge deletes done to it shortly afterwards. I'm a new participant and have been dismayed at how much silliness goes on. Is it famous women writers that attract the vandals?Suze (talk) 17:30, 14 May 2008 (UTC)
- The vandals strike pretty much everywhere, more controversial articles do tend to attract more but even some of the most obscure ones are sometimes targets of massive vandal attacks. - Icewedge (talk • goat) 23:24, 14 May 2008 (UTC)
- The report was incomplete as I used the Gadget Twinkle and either I entered the parameters incorrectly (most likely) or the tool has a glitch (not likely). It happened because of the mass attack on George W. Bush article around 19:04 http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=George_W._Bush&action=history someone used multiple accounts and was banned as he went by an admin luckily. There is a long history of the same edits. --CanadianLinuxUser (talk) 10:23, 15 May 2008 (UTC)
RfA
[edit]Please stop striking out Al Tally's !votes. Two RfC cases, an Arbcom case, and numerous AN/I incidents have supported the right of KMWEBER to oppose for pointy reasons. Similarly, Al Tally has the right to oppose for what is a minority opinion. The Crats will deal with the opposes appropriately.Balloonman (talk) 23:55, 15 May 2008 (UTC)
- The reference you pointed out, makes the striking justifiable. But two things in the future, first, make sure you indent !votes when striking them. Otherwise they continue to show up in the count. Second, include the link to the justification. As it was just an !vote, without context, he has the right (just as Kurt does) to vote. As he is now disrupting to make a point, he looses that right.Balloonman (talk) 00:10, 16 May 2008 (UTC)

Re: Your AFD
[edit]Hi Icewedge, thanks for the tip! It's been a while since I've had to nominate an article for deletion, so I'm a bit rusty. I've decided to go with the prod tag for now, since it seems to be just one single-purpose account editor actively editing the page, but if I need to move forward with the AfD (and subsequent discussions) I'll retag it. Thanks again! ← George [talk] 08:23, 17 May 2008 (UTC)

Revert on Talk:Bob Barr
[edit]I noticed your revert of a rather unconventional post on Talk:Bob Barr.diff. While certainly the editor behind 68.12.164.12 (talk) showed little recognition of Talk page procedures, I don't think the post consituted vandalism (or an unconstructive test). In fact, 68.12.164.12 was responding to the assertion by Byates5637 (talk) that Barr didn't appear in Borat's movie -- a entirely sourced statement that simply struck Byates5637 as being unlikely. I believe 68.12.164.12 was attesting to the validity of that sourced statement. And as such, was a constructive edit to the talk page. Please do not bite the newcomers. Thank you. -Noca2plus (talk) 20:39, 19 May 2008 (UTC)
- Oh, sorry about that. I must have thought that was an edit to the article not the talk page, I have started using HUGGLE and it is so mindless sometimes you forget to check. - Icewedge (talk) 21:32, 19 May 2008 (UTC)
