Shot Firer Also known as: Mining Shotfirer, Tunelling Shotfirer, Shotfirer (one word)
Shotfirers assemble, position and detonate explosives to break or dislodge rock and soil or to demolish structures.
A shot Firer is responsible for the job from start to finish, they first need to assess the blasting area to make sure it is safe and meets regulations, test all the equipment prior to use, prepares the explosives, detonators and charges and carries out the explosion.
After the job has been completed the Shot Firer will inspect the area for debris and make sure all explosives have detonated.
The Shot Firer is the most important and liable person on the job, it is their responsibility to make sure everyone remains safe and is responsible for any damage caused by the explosion.
