Capillary Networks is a concept in telecommunications in which networks are organized in a hierarchical way so that short-range networks aggregate to a long-range network as its backbone. The term 'capillary' is borrowed from biology where it describes the blood or nerve system. Examples of short-range networks include Wifi, Bluetooth. Examples of long-range networks include cellular networks such as 2G or 3G.
