The organochlorine PCP (pentacholorophenol, C6Cl5OH) is a wood preservative biocide.

Degradation

PCP is degraded by some bacteria, including Sphyingobacterium chlorophenolicum [1]

PCP → TCHQ → TriCHQ → DCHQ → 2.4-dicholoro-3-hydroxy-cis,cis-muconic semialdehyde
