The organochlorine pentachlorophenol (PCP, C5Cl5OH)is a wood preservative biocide.

PCP is degraded by some bacteria, including Sphingobium chlorophenolicum [1]

PCP → TCHQ → TriCHQ → DSCHQ → 2,4 dichloro-3-hydroxy-cis,cis-muconic semialdehyde.
