A Soul for Europe ...
The civil-society initiative "A Soul for Europe" was formed in 2004 by a group of people based mainly in Berlin, including the former Berlin senator Volker Hassemer. Its aim is the development of Europe based on the creative force of culture. The initiative tries to activate citizens and brings them into dialogue with representatives from politics and economy.
Responsible for the conceptual development of "A Soul for Europe" is its Strategy Group, consisting of over 50 young Europeans from over 20 countries. The initiative's Advisory Board, chaired by Doris Pack, MEP, and its Parliamentarian Working Group form the link between civil society and political decision makers. In 2009, the resolution on culture in the development of European regions[1] passed the European Parliament as a result of the work of the informal Intergroup “A Soul for Europe” (predecessor of the Parliamentarian Working Group).
"A Soul for Europe" has offices in Amsterdam (Felix Meritis Foundation), Berlin (Stiftung Zukunft Berlin[2]), Brussels (The European House for Culture[3]) and Porto (setepés[4]).
