Sébastien Cibois (born 2 March 1998) is a French professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for French club Stade Brestois 29.[3]
Early career
[edit]Born in Argenteuil, in the northwestern suburbs of Paris, Cibois joined the youth team of PSG in 1 July 2009 at the age of 11.[1][4][5]
Cibois first appeared in a youth match on 21 November 2015 as an unused substitute in a match against Amiens AC in matchday 11 of the Championnat National 2. He wore the number 16 jersey but failed to come on.[6] He was an unused substitute for a further 3 games due to competition from Jean Louchet and Léonard Aggoune before first appearing in a goalless draw against Arsenal U19,[7] wearing the number 1 jersey.[8] He played for 7 UEFA Youth League matches in the 2016-17 season, including all 6 group stage matches and a knockout phase match, conceding a total of 12 goals. He also played in a league match, a 4-1 loss to Rennes U19. In the 2017-18 season, he played for 13 matches but received a straight red card in the first match against AS Saint-Priest. He also played all 8 matches in the UEFA Youth League.[3][1] In the 2018 summer pre-season, he played his only ever match with the senior team in the International Champions Cup, having come on in the 73rd minute for Gianluigi Buffon. He played for another 22 league matches in the 2018-19 season.[3]
Career
[edit]Following the loan move of Rémy Descamps to Tours in January 2018, Cibois was promoted to the senior team of Paris Saint-Germain as 3rd choice goalkeeper, wearing the number 50 jersey.[1] He was called up on bench in 1-0 and 5-2 victories over Toulouse and Strasbourg on 10 and 17 February 2018 respectively,[3] then in a 3-0 victory over Marseille in the Coupe de France on 1 March 2018.[9] On 28 May 2018, he signed his first professional contract with Paris Saint-Germain, committing his future with the club till 2021.[10] He would continue playing for the reserves team.
In 11:30pm, September 2, 2019 (reported to be September 3), Cibois terminated his contract with PSG and became a free agent[11][12] after failing to complete a deal with either Vitória S.C. or SO Cholet.[13] After tests with Atlético Madrid, RC Celta de Vigo and local club Stade Brestois 29, he settled for the latter on 6 January 2020[14] and was assigned the number 30 jersey.[5] On 8 March 2020, he made his youth debut in a 3-1 win over Lannion FC.[15]
