Puretty (/pjuːrɪ.t/ pew-ri-tee; Korean: 퓨리티; Japanese: ピュリティ (Pyuritei); stylized as PURETTY) is a South Korean girl group formed by DSP Media in 2012. Their name is a portmanteau of the words "pure" and "pretty". The group will debut in August in Japan, ahead of their Korean debut.[1]

History

[edit]

Pre-debut

[edit]

In January 2012, DSP Media announced that they would be debuting a new sister group to Kara and Rainbow.[2] Temporarily nicknamed as the DSP Girls, the group revealed plans to debut simultaneously in both Korea and Japan through an anime titled Pretty Rhythm: Dear My Future.[2]

Puretty held their first official performance at the Tokyo Toy Show 2012 on 15 June, promoting their debut Japanese single "Cheki☆Love".[3] The group will be attending the A-nation concert held at the AX-Hall in Shibuya, Tokyo, on 9 August as opening acts.[4]
