Cameron Picton (born 7 June 1999)[1][2] is an English musician, best known as bassist and occasional vocalist of rock band Black Midi.
Joining the band after meeting fellow BRIT School students Geordie Greep, Matt Kwasniewski-Kelvin and Morgan Simpson, Picton completed Black Midi's lineup and the band would officially get their start gigging at Brixton pub The Windmill. They have since released 3 studio albums, Schlagenheim, Cavalcade, and Hellfire, all to critical acclaim.
He has also released remixes under the name DJ Dairy, and since 2024 has been touring and releasing music under the name Camera Picture.
Early life
[edit]Cameron Picton was born on 7 June 1999, and is from Wimbledon.[3] His grandfather was a fan of jazz music, which trickled down to his uncle, a session musician, and then to Picton himself. His mother spent a lot of time in Spain before his birth, which resulted in him being exposed to Spanish and Andalusian music in his youth.[4] At the age of nine, he began receiving guitar lessons from his neighbor, a guitar teacher, while his mother would teach said neighbor's daughter Spanish. He went on to make many home recordings, and desired to play music with others, but didn't have peers to do so, and thusly Picton would apply to the BRIT School.[5]
