[edit]Bob Belcher (voiced by H. Jon Benjamin ) is the husband of Linda, father of Tina, Louise, Gene, and is the owner of Bob’s Burgers. He is the main character of the series. He owns a second generation restaurant in the fictional town of Wagstaff. His fathering technique reflects on how his father raised him, as he discouraged play, but Bob realized that and gave more freedom to them. He desperately tries to beat his rival restaurant, right down the street, Jimmy Pesto’s Pizzeria. He, like Linda, loves drinking.
Fictional Character Biography
[edit]He is a second generation restaurant owner, and the current proprietor of his eponymous burger restaurant in fictional Wagstaff. His fathering technique reflects how his father raised him, who discouraged play, after learning that in “Bob Fires the Kids ”, he loosens his rules a little. He is despised by Hugo, the health inspector for he and Linda had dated prior. It is shown in the following episodes:
In the pilot “Human Flesh ”, he shuts down Bob’s restaurant just for dating Linda, minor health violations, and a rumor (spread by Louise, Bob’s youngest daughter for her school project) that there is human flesh in the hamburgers Bob serves. He closes down Bob’s restaurant in “Weekend at Mort’s ” for having mold, yet when Bob finds it in Jimmy Pesto’s restaurant he simply states “Just put some bleach on it” despite not letting Bob do it although he asked. In “Lobsterfest ”, he inspects the restaurant after a hangover because the woman Bob set him up with broke up with him because Bob gave him bad advice on how to use his badge. In “My Fuzzy Valentine ”, Hugo refuses to give Bob the location of a love-testing machine just so Bob cannot get her a romantic gift for Valentine’s Day.
He is very mild-tempered, rarely ever being angry. He is shown to not have a big imagination as in “Weekend at Mort’s”, he refused to treat Linda and Bob’s staying at Mort’s as a second honeymoon for them. It is shown that making burgers is Bob’s dream, and he is very good at it; In “Burger Wars”, after eating Bob’s greatest burger, the Meatsiah, he refers to Bob as a “Beef artist”, claiming that he does not care about business or making money, a reference to his failing restaurant. Despite everything, he still stands by his restaurant, that has been destroyed five times.
