George E. Condon (born November 4, 1916) is an American journalist and author. He is well-known in the Cleveland area as a long-time Plain Dealer columnist and critic, and for his numerous studies of local history. He currently resides in Rocky River, Ohio.
Personal
[edit]Condon was born in 1916 in Fall River, Massachusetts, to John Condon (of Dungarvan, County Waterford) and Mary O'Malley (born to Irish parents in Blackburn, England). His parents had [#] sons and [#] daughters in Fall River (one of whom, Ellen, was taught by a Sunday school teacher named Lizzie Borden). In [year], the Condons moved from Massachusetts to the Ohio City neighborhood of Cleveland, Ohio. George Condon attended St. Patrick's Catholic school on Bridge Avenue and then West Tech High School. After working in Cleveland for a year, he entered Ohio State University, becoming the editor of The Lantern and meeting his future wife, Marjorie Smith, a member of the newspaper writing staff.
