Travellerspoint.com

[edit]

Travellerspoint.com is an online travel community that went live in 2002. It was created and developed by brothers Samuel and Peter Daams out of a desire to create a website where people could regain contact with friends made on travels.

The website has a broad range of features designed to inspire travellers, foster a healthy travel community and allow them the ability to record their own travel experiences.

It offers destination guides to every country in the world, as well as the tools to help plan trips. Volunteer travel helpers give free advice to other travellers. Travellers can also use Travellerspoint to record their journey, whether by writing in online diaries or personal blogs, or uploading photos from their trip.

The forums are another key feature where members share experiences, offer tips and get together as a community of travellers.

Travellerspoint currently has more than 75 000 members from almost 240 countries.

Trivia

[edit]

The word "tupela" comes from Pidgin English, meaning "two" or "two people". The Daams brothers who run Tupela spent most of their youth living in the Solomon Islands where Pidgin English is spoken.
