The Aceh Transition Committee (Bahasa Indonesia: Komite Peralihan Aceh, KPA) is an Indonesian Non-governmental organization based in the province of Aceh. It was set up in December 2005 by the leadership of the (originally) secessionist Free Aceh Movement (GAM) with the purpose of overseeing and facilitating the integration of former fighters of the Aceh National Army, GAM's armed wing, into civil society. It is not registered with the Indonesian home affairs ministry and therefore has no legal status. However, it constitutes a significant force in Aceh provincial politics, especially for voter mobilisation and the distribution of political rents. The KPA is charged with the redistribution of funds for the reintegration of former rebel fighters (Reference missing). Its members also profit from corruption, usually receiving a 10%-share of major public project funding.[1]
