Disorganized Essay Example
[edit]Instruments are grouped in families
There is the string family, which is instruments that have strings that are bowed or plucked. One example is the violin. There have been many famous violin players such as Niccolo Paganini and Pablo de Sarasate [1], and also the violin has spread all around the world.
Clarinet is a woodwind instrument, it is an instrument that has a reed you blow through to make the sound. its in the same category as flutes and other instruments you breath into to make noise that were originally made out of wood[2]. The clarinet uses a reed that vibrates instead of a string vibrating to make sound, which more specifically categorizes it as a single-reed woodwind like the oboe and bassoon[3] . The clarinet has been around for a long time, it has been around since 1733[4]
Though percussion is different, its where you hit, shake or scrape the instrument[5] and the instrument itself vibrates to make sound, like how you hit a drum with a stick. an example of a stranger categorization of percussion is the piano. You'd think it was a string instrument, because it has strings in it, but it's a percussion instrument because the strings are hit with little hammers[6]. xylophones are also percussion instruments[6].
One of the weirdest instruments I know of is called the "glass armonica." It was invented by Benjamin Franklin in 1761[7]. It's a bunch of glasses that make a singing sound. i cant seem to find out what category that would be under the percussion section as you are stroking the glass to make it vibrate and admit sound.
I've always been interested in music, and learning about different musical instruments.
