I am a cranky middle aged academic. I live in Michigan in the United States of America and I work at an institution of higher education in the state. I have four degrees but I see no point in listing them as Wikipedians (for both good and bad) as a whole don't care about credentials.

I have played with Wikipedia a lot over the years. However, most of my edits have been anonymous and I have been like a ghost around the edges. This name is an attempt to give myself a more a visible presence at Wikipedia.

Otho was a Roman Emperor who served briefly during the civil wars of 69 AD. He commited suicide after he lost a battle in hopes that his death would result in the end of the fighting and restore peace to the Roman Empire. He is a minor figure today but I have always admired him and I proudly edit under his name.
