White Widow (musician) (born March 23, 1979) is an Italian-American musician, recognized for her gritty guitar licks and seductive lyrics. Also known as Carla Patullo, White Widow began her solo career in 1999 touring the country on the indie circuit after graduating from Berklee College of Music.

Starting at the legendary rock club CBGB and traveling through Italy on the Arezzo Wave Festival Tour, she most recently opened for Sandra Bernhard at SXSW 2010. She has also opened for Grammy nominee Dave Rave, the Semi Precious Weapons and has shared the stage with guitarist Steve Mazur of Our Lady Peace, and Grammy nominee Grayson Hugh. [1]

White Widow recorded and self-produced her last two albums [2], and is currently working on a new album, “A Psychological Thriller”, which will be accompanied by a short film produced by Electric Wonder. A follow up to her 2009 release, Black Heart, which earned her the attention of the Wall Street Journal stating “Her trio plays angst-drenched indie rock that ranges from bombastic to intimate, occasionally within the same song. If you come away thinking [White Widow] spent some time studying P.J. Harvey, you'd likely be right, but her music works and she deserves more attention” [3]

Early life

[edit]

White Widow says her name was inspired by the song "Gold Dust Woman" by Stevie Nicks [4] "White Widow presents contrast, heavy-hearted and light-hearted" she says. "I draw influenced from performers like Stevie Nicks & Lindsey Buckingham, PJ Harvey, Sandra Bernhard, and Courtney Love. These artists are raw and don't hold anything back, something I believe every artist strives for." [5]

In Brooklyn, NY, White Widow released her first album in 2005, called No Wood to Knock On and has since released two other albums, It's My Tragedy in 2006 and Black Heart in 2009. Many of White Widow's recordings have been featured in films [6], and national TV shows including the MTI horror film Ice Queen, CBS daytime soap The Young & the Restless, ABC's All My Children, Nash Bridges, Sabrina the Teenage Witch, and MTV's Teen Mom II, to name a few.
