Bio
[edit]About me
[edit]My hobbies include reading, watching tv, and painting. People who read more have more stronger connectivity to the brain, meaning these people can slow down the process of Alzheimer's and dementia in their later years.[1] My all time favorite book is "Heartless" by Marissa Meyer, in general I love her all her writing work. My interests are pin collecting, book collecting, and baking. I have been book collecting for over 5 years while pin collecting has been a interest I found a few months ago.
My Wikipedia interests
[edit]If I am active on Wikipedia some time in the future, I'll probably be giving random facts on articles and deep diving into books I like. I enjoy reading random facts too so if I could hop onto the band wagon, that would be awesome. I don't plan on doing much as a volunteer but I do plan on contributing in small ways, rather it be fixing grammar errors or adding citations, either or is fine with me. All and all, thank you for visiting my user page.
Article Elevation
[edit]I have been a huge fan of Marissa Meyer's work for the last couple of years, I own both her solo novel Heartless and the entire The Lunar Chronicles collection, and I hope to continue purchasing and reading her work. I wanted Wikipedia's information on her to be up to date due to her being my favorite author. I visited the Marissa Meyer article on Wikipedia, and found three aspects of it worth commenting on: Lack on early life and education information, lack on information about her website, and stating Fairest isn't related to The Lunar Chronicles when indeed it is.
Early Life and Education
Even though there is a section dedicated to her early life and education there isn't much included. For example, stated on Marissa Meyer's blog, she worked at The Old Spaghetti Factory in Tacoma, WA while her was 16. And while attending college at Pacific Lutheran, she sorted mail that came in and out of the dorms and carted tables and chairs around campus. Not only that too, she received a Bachelor's degree in Creative Writing but, she also received one in Children's Literature too. The went on to receive her Masters degree in Publishing from Pace University.[2] All this information I stated to you are not mentioned on her Wikipedia.
Marissa Meyer's Website
Stated in my last paragraph, Marissa Meyer's has her own website, even though the website has been referred on her Wikipedia article as a source and is on her side card which provides information like birthday and age, there isn't much about it. For example, it is not stated about the blogs, newsletters, FAQ, and events her website offers. It can be argue that it is not necessary to list off key components from her website, but I disagree. Her Wikipedia article so have a rough overall for interested readers.
Fairest
Fairest is the fourth book out The Lunar Chronicles series, serving as the prequal for the overall series and provides a story for the main antagonist. On the Wikipedia article though, it states Fairest is only a "related work", not properly in the series. Though on The Lunar Chronicles Wikipedia and Marissa Meyer's website, it credits Fairest as being in the collection. It is frustrating to see this as a reader of the series, for the information in false. It also hints to newer reader that they can avoid reading Fairest due to it only being related to the series, not apart of it
Summary
All and all, I would rate this Wikipedia page as 'decent'. The information about her early life and education is light and straight to the point, but could greatly improve more, especially with the public information Mrs. Meyer has provided. Not only that, it does pay some attention and credit to her website, but similar to the information about her youth, but not enough information nor states the overall benefits of checking out her website. And finally, with the incorrect placement of Fairest and it connection to series, it is frustrating to see as the reader and could downplay the importance of the book in the overlapping series. There is highly much more about Marissa Meyer out there that is missing from the article, but it does provide one with enough information to start learning about her.
