Religion
[edit]- Christianity - The coherent viewpoint that logically fits the world we see and that which we cannot explain, Christianity is not just religion to me; it is a way of life.
The Arts
[edit]- Piano - I love the power you have over a wealth of notes, all at the same time.
- Drawing - To represent something you see as influenced by how you're feeling is quite a concept.
Music
[edit]- Brand New
- Straylight Run
- Panic! at the Disco
- Jack's Mannequin & Something Corporate
- The Fray
- Lifehouse
- Pink Floyd
- The Eagles
- Aerosmith
Language
[edit]- English - My first language, English will always be my favorite.
- Spanish - Spanish, being the language I grew up with, is a close second.
- German - German is next on my languages-to-learn list.
Technology
[edit]- Apple Computer - Though PCs are nice, Apples are superb; once their weak point, networking is now far from mediocre.
- Object-Oriented Programming - I used to be a functional programmer. OOP is much more intuitive, reuseable, and robust. Functional programming is, I suppose, still useful in the maths and sciences.
- C++ - My "slightly lower-level" language of choice. Its superior performance and the control it gives you make it, at times, preferable to Java.
- Java - By far my favorite OOP language, as yet. Networking, distributed architectures, and reflection are, well, a breeze with the specification. I may begin to dabble in Smalltalk sometime.
- XML - XML is the perfect way to display web pages and store data. Its portability complements Java well.
- SQL - Even though it is not a language, per se, it's extremely useful when combined with Java. I'd like to look into Spring and Hibernate to make querying relational databases easier.
- Web design - I especially enjoy Servlets and JSPs. I may like to learn ASP and the Microsoft .NET framework, but right now, I'm sticking with Java. I'd like to perfect my aesthetic web design skills, especially the use of tables and CSS.
