Rainbow Resource Center is located in Laramie Wyoming. It serves as a safe and educational place for Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgendered, and Queer/ Questiong (GLBTQ) students that attend the University of Wyoming as well as faculty and staff The center serves 4-10 percent of the student population which equates to approximately 1,500 students. This does not include allies or faculty or staff. The Rainbow Reource Center serves as a primary resource for Albany County which has over 32,000 residents.
The Rainbow Resource was catalyzed by the death of Matthew Shepard. The center was established in 2000. It is located in the Wyoming Student Union in room 106. It has the largest library of GLBTQ material in the state and also creates programs and events that pertain to the GLBTQ community and allies.
