The College Heights Historic District is a national historic district located in Durham, North Carolina. The roughly 12 city block district encompasses 189 contributing buildings and 9 contributing structures in a predominantly African-American neighborhood south of Downtown Durham. The district, whose development was largely attributed to the growth of neighboring North Carolina Central University, features both gridded and curvilinear streets. It's buildings primarily date between 1925 and 1966 and include examples of American Craftsman, period cottages, minimal traditional and Ranch style homes. The neighborhood is bounded by North Carolina Central University on east and north and the former norfolk southern railway, now the American Tobacco Trail to the southwest. The neighborhood extends south along Fayetteville street between Formosa avenue to Cecil street and includes Pekoe & Masondale avenues in addition to Duncan, Nelson, Otis, and Concord streets.
