Hi! Let me introduce myself.
My name is Edgar Bonet. I am a French physicist at the Néel Institute in Grenoble, France. I’m specialized in nanomagnetism. Besides physics, I am mainly interested in:
- computer programming, especially:
- photography, including its technical aspects (optics...), analog and pinhole photography
- Lindy Hop, a social dance performed on swing music.
I have an account in the French Wikipedia since January 2008, and in the English Wikipedia since August 2010.
My contributions
[edit]I have been mainly fixing formulas and adding small pieces of data here and there, in articles related to physics and photography:
- Brillouin and Langevin functions: added continued fraction approximation of L(x), clarified the status of the various approximations of L⁻¹(x)
- Superparamagnetism: section Effect of a magnetic field rewritten and expanded, including the time dependence of the magnetization
- Quartz clock: fixed the frequency formula
- Tuning fork: fixed the frequency formula, now independent of the shape of the cross-section of the prongs
- Preferred number: fixed and expanded paragraph on ISO film speeds
- Huygens–Fresnel principle: fixed a couple of mathematical inconsistencies
- Strehl ratio: gave exact (on axis) formula, clarified that Mahajan’s formula is an approximation
- Nikon FE: added (own) pictures and more data to the infobox
- Nikon FG-20: added infobox
- Nikon FE2: expanded infobox, removed less interesting images
- Orders of magnitude (capacitance): 11 entries, mostly stray/unintended capacitances
- Orders of magnitude (luminance): created, 26 entries from 11 references
- Micromagnetics: reorganized and expanded
- Atmel AVR instruction set: added section on addressing and specified the addressing modes in the instruction list
- Serial Peripheral Interface Bus: fixed the example code for bit-banging
- Fast inverse square root: partial rewrite, making clearer that aliasing a float to an int is just a way to approximate its logarithm
- Timekeeping on Mars: simplified formulas for Mars date and time, with automatically computed current values.

TODO list
[edit]- Cleanup and illustrate Micromagnetics.
