Educational Credential Evaluators, Inc. (ECE) is a non-profit public service organization. ECE prepares evaluation reports that identify the United States equivalents of educational qualifications earned in other countries.

From its inception in 1980 in the home of its founder, Dr. James S. Frey, ECE has expanded, currently employing more than 80 people and occupying a suite of offices in the historic former Schlitz brewery near downtown Milwaukee.

ECE is a charter member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES), an organization incorporated in Delaware in 1987 to establish and maintain professional standards for private credential evaluation services.

Mission Statement

The mission of ECE is to serve persons who have completed part or all of their education outside of the United States so that their educational qualifications are properly recognized when they seek employment, professional licensure, further education, or other benefits for which educational achievement is a prerequisite.

Products

Reports:

• General evaluation report provides the U.S. equivalence of each educational credential. General evaluation reports are most commonly used for graduate admission, immigration, and employment purposes.

• General with Grade Average report provides the U.S. equivalence of each educational credential and includes a U.S. equivalent grade average.

• Course-By-Course evaluation report provides the U.S. equivalence of each educational credential, plus a list of courses taken and their U.S. credit and grade equivalents. It also identifies upper level courses and the grade point average.

• High School and University Level Course by Course report provides the U.S. equivalence of each educational credential, plus a list of courses taken and their U.S. credit and grade equivalents. and the U.S. unit and grade equivalents for each high school level course. It also identifies upper level courses and the grade point average.

• Subject Analysis evaluation report provides all of the information in a Course-by-Course evaluation report, plus information about the content of those courses that are of primary importance to you.

• Catalog Match evaluation report matches course codes from a U.S. institution's course catalog with the student's courses. This type of report can be prepared only when ECE has received specific instructions beforehand from the agency or institution that requires the report.

• Health Professions Licensure evaluation report provides all the information in a Course-by-Course evaluation report, plus categorization of each post-secondary course according to guidelines specified by health professions licensing boards. This type of report can be prepared only when ECE has received specific instructions beforehand from the agency or institution that requires the report.

Training:

• e-Learning - ECE® e-learning is an online training program for international admissions professionals, recruiters, credential evaluators, and anyone interested in education completed outside of the United States.

• Customized Training Programs (CTP) are in-person, personalized training sessions. Customers pick the topics and training can be held at their office, or at ECE.

Publications: ECE has written books, articles and collaborated with other organizations.

The Connection for International Credential Evaluation Professionals

The Connection for International Credential Evaluation Professionals ("The Connection") website was launched in 2011 to bring together individuals who evaluate educational credentials from around the world.

The Connection allows professionals to collaborate, share information, and access resources regarding admissions decisions, the determination of educational credential equivalencies, the articulation of professional standards, and the promotion of best practices in the field of international comparative education.
