[edit]– |
Bundesliga
[edit]A total of twelve teams competed in the 2012–13 edition of the Bundesliga. Each team played 22 matches: one home match and one away match against every other team in the league. Three points were awarded for a win, one point was awarded for a draw, and no points were awarded for a loss.[3] At the end of the season, the top two teams qualified for the Round of 32 of the UEFA Women's Champions League.
September–October
[edit]VfL Wolfsburg opened their campaign on 23 September 2012[4][5] Matchday 3 was the first in which all twelve teams participated.[6] Wolfsburg handed VfL Sindelfingen their third loss of the season by winning the match 6–0. Verena Faißt scored the opening goal in the seventh minute of the match. Alexandra Popp made her debut for the club and scored her first goal for the club in this match.[7] Wolfsburg then traveled to USV Jena on 30 September 2012 where they won the match 3–0 thanks to two goals from Conny Pohlers and one goal from Zsanett Jakabfi.[8] On 10 October 2012 , Wolfsburg hosted SC Freiburg. The only goal of the match was a penalty kick scored by Lena Goeßling in the 32nd minute giving Wolfsburg a 1–0 victory.[9] SGS Essen and Wolfsburg played to a goalless draw on 14 October 2012 . This match was the first one which Wolfsburg had not won this season. They did manage to continue the streak of no league opponent scoring against them.[10] Pohlers scored a hat-trick in Wolfsburg's 4–0 victory over FCR Duisburg on 28 October 2012 .[11]

DFB-Pokal
[edit]The DFB-Pokal is a single-elimination tournament. The first edition of the women's tournament was held in 1980–81. Sixteen teams participated in the first edition of the tournament. The 2012–13 edition had 56 teams participate. The top 8 teams from the 2011–12 Bundesliga were given a bye to the second round. Wolfsburg were eliminated in the round of 16 of the previous edition of the tournament.
The draw for the second round took place on 11 September 2012[12] Wolfsburg hosted the match on 7 October 2012 . Two early goals came from Viola Odebrecht and Lina Magull while Conny Pohlers scored two goals in the second half to finish the match 4–0 in Wolfsburg's favor. The draw for the round of 16 took place on 14 October 2012 and saw Wolfsburg drawn with FCR 2001 Duisburg.[13] Wolfsburg scored eight goals to Duisburg's one in the match played on 18 November 2012 . Duisburg's interim manager Pepe Hauser said the team made "many mistakes on defense."[14]
. Wolfsburg were drawn against 2. Bundesliga side 1. FC Lübars. The quarter-finals draw on 29 November 2012[15] The match was originally scheduled for 15 December 2012 but was postponed due to unfit playing conditions.[16] The match took place on 9 February 2013 . Wolfsburg failed to create any compelling chances and the first half ended scoreless. Pohlers scored the first two goals of the match in the 51st and 53rd minutes respectively. Zsanett Jakabfi's 80th minute goal sealed the 3–0 victory.[17] Due to the match being postponed, it was already known that SC Freiburg would host this match's winner in the semi-finals. The semi-final match was played on 2 March 2013 . Alexandra Popp scored the only goal of the first half. Wolfsburg manager Ralf Kellermann felt they "were not really on the pitch in the first half." The second half saw three more goals before Freiburg were reduced to 10 players due to a red card to Carmen Höfflin in 69th minute for a rough tackle. Pohlers brought the final score to 5–0 with a goal in the 72nd minute.[18]
