This is an essay. It contains the advice or opinions of one or more Wikipedia contributors. This page is not an encyclopedia article, nor is it one of Wikipedia's policies or guidelines, as it has not been thoroughly vetted by the community. Some essays represent widespread norms; others only represent minority viewpoints. |
The inner circle of Wikipedia consists of those people who have contributed the most:
- Written accurate, relevant articles of surpassing excellence
- Edited the writings of others into brilliant prose
- Helped administer the web site to facilitate the crafting of superb articles
- Formulated and championed policies to support all this
Wikipedia is "fair" in the sense that anyone can become part of the inner circle. But you must pay a price for this. You will be held to a higher standard than ordinary contributors. People will expect much more from you than from others. Are you prepared to accept this challenge?
If you merit different treatment, others will gladly accord you this: greater respect, more deference, even following your suggestions. If you cannot live up to this high standard, do not expect to be treated differently than those who are not in the inner circle. Step out, and be ordinary (like most of us!).
