The Air Navigation Services of Sweden[1] (Swedish: Luftfartsverket, LFV), is a Swedish state-owned public enterprise (statligt affärsverk) under the Ministry of Rural Affairs and Infrastructure. It is responsible for air traffic control for civilian and military aviation in Sweden.[2] LFV was created in 1947 after the nationalisation of private air traffic control in 1939.[3] Its headquarters is in Norrköping.

History

[edit]

The Swedish Civil Aviation Administration was formed in 1945 and became a state-owned public enterprise in 1947.[3] The Civil Aviation Administration was in charge of civilian air traffic control, civil aviation regulation, and the operation of state-owned airports.

In 1973 the Riksdag proposed bla bla bla militär[4]

In 2003 the Ministry of Enterprise proposed that the Swedish Civil Aviation Administration's regulatory division Luftfartsinspektionen should be split into a new government agency. The regulartory division was seperated from LFV in 2005 and formed the the Swedish Civil Aviation Authority,[4][5] which is now a part of the Swedish Transport Agency since 2009.[6] LFV's ownership and operation of state-owned airports was transferred to the newly state-owned company Swedavia AB in 2010.

In 2015 LFV was first in the world to implement remote air traffic control. Write something about that coverage in the media here.

Between 2013 and 2018 LFV's subsidary LFV Aviation Consulting AB partnered with Emirati Global Aerospace Logistics (GAL) to provide air navigation services for the Abu Dhabi Airports Company.[7][8]
