William Ballard "Will" Hurd (born 1977) is a former Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) officer running in the 2010 Republican primary to represent Texas's 23rd Congressional District.

Early years

Hurd was born in San Antonio, Texas. He graduated from John Marshall High School, then did his undergraduate studies at Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas. He graduated in 2000 with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and served as Student Body President during the Bonfire tragedy in 1999 [1].

Service

Upon graduation, Hurd joined the CIA in 2000 as an Operations Officer. He served in the Middle East and South Asia, collecting foreign intelligence to assist the President and senior policymakers combat national security threats like the Taliban and al Qai'da. In 2009, Hurd returned to San Antonio after completing his tour of duty in Afghanistan.

2010 Campaign

Hurd announced his candidacy on November 19, 2009 for the Republican nomination in Texas's 23rd Congressional District [2].

On February 15, 2010, Hurd received the endorsement of the San Antonio Express-News' Editorial Board, the District's largest circulating newspaper [3].
