When you subst the templates in the header, the viewable content in the edit window contains the above non-elegant string. However, the edit summary field gets pre-filled with /* EdJohnston (talk · contribs) A third section */ which is nicer looking. EdJohnston (talk) 20:17, 30 September 2019 (UTC)

Add some stuff that might be lost in a browser crash.
I turned on the editing preference to use Edit Recovery. The feature now seems to be working. When I invoked Special:EditRecovery it shows the following:
