Stan Adams of WMF policy staff has extensive connections in the US Virgin Islands. He alerted us in Wikimedia DC that the St. Croix Avis newspaper had ceased publishing and there was a possibility of scanning its past issues, making them available online, and of improving Wikimedia content about them.
Note for example that while the newspaper is cited several times on en.wp there is no article about the newspaper itself; we could at least correct that.
It might naturally involve a partnership with the Internet Archive or the Library of Congress.
- Envision article about this newspaper of long lasting historical interest
- Internet Archive could archive those issues not yet done
- Sherry Antoine and Pete Forsyth would be natural partners here.
