About me

[edit]

I'm a running start college student, doing half of my daily classes at my high school and the other half at my near by community college. I am planning on being a CAD Designer as my future occupation, because of the high amount of interest that I've always had in CAD and 3D-printing. So much so that I even do it as a hobby as well. Something really fascinating about it is that it has been in practice since 1971. [1] Something that I also love to do is listen to music, no matter the occasion, whether I am doing chores, doing homework, you name it, I am most likely listening to music.

My Wikipedia interests

[edit]

If some day I do decide to edit, I will be editing articles that have to do with, you guessed it, CAD and 3D-printing. While I am no expert in the field, there may be some touch ups here and there or some minor things that I would like to add on that I wasn't able to find out when I myself first started, that may help others. Thank you for visiting my user page.

Article Evaluation

[edit]

I've always been interested in snakes, enough to have a milk snake as a pet. I visited the snake venom article on Wikipedia, and found three aspects of it worth commenting on: the number of non-current citations used in the article, the amount of information that is not cited at all, and the incompleteness.

Non-current citations

[edit]

One of the first things I noticed was when I hovered over a random citation and It had the year 2002 in it. Then out of curiosity, I went down to see the rest of the citations and the sheer number of citations from years as far back as 1964, was a lot. Information from that far back could be vastly different from information we have on the same subject now. The editors of the article should try and update the article with more relevant information.

Lack of citations

[edit]

There are a lot of citations on this page, but not enough. Especially in paragraphs 17-18, there are no citations at all, only a couple Wiki links. This is very off-putting because it makes you wonder if any of it is even credible, factual information. The fact that it may not be makes me wonder if any of the other information is factual. It would be nice to see some more citations in the article to make the content verifiable.

Incompleteness

[edit]

There is a specific part of the article that talks about the treatments for venomous snake bites which is lacking some information. There is not enough information about what the average person anywhere in the world where there are venomous snakes can do. Not everyone has access to the plants found in Latin America and the Caribbean.

Conclusion

[edit]

With all of the above in mind, the article deserves a rating of "almost good", as it would be better if it had every fact cited for verifiablity, all citations and information up to date and more about emergency treatment and care.
