Institutional Conflict of Interest Statement
I, User: EMarkel-JoyetAPS, disclose that I am a paid employee of the American Philosophical Society (APS). This cultural institution is undertaking a pilot project to inform the future development of an institution-wide partnership with Wikiproject:GLAM, in the interest of making our holdings, publications, and other resources more accessible to the public.
My edits will consist of the following:
-identifying the election of a person to the APS, when that person is deceased and has a pre-existing Wikipedia article. The source for these edits will be the published volumes by Whitfield J. Bell and Charles Greifenstein, Jr., Patriot-Improvers: Biographical Sketches of Members of the American Philosophical Society. 3 vols. Philadelphia: American Philosophical Society, 1997-2010; as well as the meeting minutes of the APS, published in summary form as Early Proceedings of the American Philosophical Society for Promoting Useful Knowledge. The source for these edits will be individually noted in each edit summary.
-identifying any elected offices the member held at the APS (secretary, vice president, president, librarian, etc). The source for these edits will also be the meeting minutes of the APS (see above) and will be individually noted in each summary.
- occasional addition of birth and death dates to the person’s article if missing from the pre-existing article, and/or correcting dates if appropriate. The sources for these edits are published, tertiary sources like the American National Biographical Dictionary, and will be individually noted in each edit summary.
- Any new pages created will be the work of the 2020-2021 APS Bibliography Team: Jeff Appelhans, Julie Fisher, Angela Vassallo, and others.
I will not make any edits that would not be beneficial to the goals, practices, and procedures of Wikipedia. Similarly, I am aware of and will abide by Wikipedia’s guidelines around conflicts of interest, neutrality, and notability. I will modify my editing behavior based on issues cited by other editors if my edits conflict with other Wikipedia guidelines. I ask that other editors do not hesitate to contact me, via my user talk page, if I appear to be going against this declaration.
