From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hazardous Fuels Reduction is a multifaceted tool used in wildfire prevention and in reducing the cost and intensity of wildfire suppression. It consists of a reduction of dry brush and trees which tend to increase the probability of uncontrolled wildland fires, once a fire has begun. The means of reduction may consist of prescribed fires, mechanical treatments, or other treatments, such as grazing, biological controls, or herbicide applications.
