Cultural appropriation image

Hi, I think it would be more helpful if you left a reason why I 'need to take it up on the talk page'. what you wrote sounds pretty cryptic and demanding. I will btw gladly take this up on the talk page after, but my reason is simple: it makes the article better and is an accepted convention to have an illustrative photo by the lead. 189.217.86.184 (talk) 02:50, 8 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. The reason why I reverted your edit and suggested you take it up on the talk page is that, as you identified in your post, there's a dispute about whether the image should be on the page. Discussing the issue on the talk page is the way we resolve disputes. You may think the image makes the article better, but other people clearly disagree. Dyrnych (talk) 02:55, 8 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
You are mistaken. I put another image (a rasta wig for sale at Disney) at the top and the image was deleted for not being relevant to the article at all. Thus I moved a different image (a non-indigenous person wearing an indigenous headdress) and put it at the top. You then reverted. I am interested in providing a visual example near the lead as it helps the article. I am only selecting images already in the article. Does that make sense? 189.217.86.184 (talk) 05:55, 8 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
If you look at the article's talk page, it is extremely clear that other editors have objected to the use of the specific image you've cited in the lede (and in the article in general). In any case, my talk page isn't the forum for this discussion. Dyrnych (talk) 15:17, 8 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, I am talking on the talk page, I contacted you here because I thought we had a simple misunderstanding. Turns out it is a complicated misunderstanding. It is not clear at all what image is being discussed on the talk page, there is a mention of photoshopping, and that is not the case with either image I moved.. I was operating under the assumption that the images on the page were 'approved' in some way and simply moving one to the top would help the article. Thanks. 189.217.86.184 (talk) 14:47, 9 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
