Pine Street is notable as one of William Penn's original streets in his plan for building the "1200 acre site of Philadelphia."[1] Pine Street is one of the original in Penn's plan that are named after a tree traversing east-west, termed an "odanym".[2][3]
Going from east to west, Pine Street starts in Society Hill. Between 11th and 12th Street is referred to as "Antique Row.[4] Between 23rd and 24th Streets is Fitler Square before terminating at Lombard Street.
