Lindeneau Elementary School is located in Edison, New Jersey. The school opened in 1966 and it is one of eleven elementary schools in Edison Township Public School District. There are about 511 students (as of 2008-09).[1] The grade levels range from Kindergarten to 5th grade. All graduates continue on to Thomas Jefferson Middle School. The school is named after the area of Edison Township in which it is located, which was once unofficially known as Lindeneau, NJ.[citation needed] The current principal is Sara Bright.

Curriculum and Academic Departments

Core curriculum for all grades includes elementary mathematics, balanced literacy, elementary social studies, ESL, and physical education.[2] The curriculum also includes elementary science (grades 4-5), technology (grades K-4), visual arts (grades 3-5), instrumental music (grades 4-5), vocal music (grades 4-5).[2]

No Child Left Behind Act Report

All teachers meet the Federal Highly Qualified Teacher (HQT) requirements as stated by the No Child Left Behind Act and average school attendance is over 95% (as of 2009). The school is above the state proficiency standards for Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) in both Mathematics and Language Arts Literacy (as of 2009).[3]


PTO

Lindeneau Elementary has a very active Parent Teacher Organization (PTO). The PTO organizes multiple events each year which directly benefit the school. Proceeds from events fund class trips, assemblies and equipment for the school.[4]
