Elsewhere is a museum of contemporary art located in Greensboro, North Carolina, USA, on the site of a former thrift store. The museum operates around the reuse and repurposing of a massive static collection of objects that belonged to the former store's proprietress, Sylvia Gray[1].
Between March and October of every year, Elsewhere opens to the public as a museum and indoor amusement park[2]. At the same time, it maintains an artist residency program that invites visual artists, art educators, writers, and performance artists to utilize the collection to create new works within the museum[3].
Elsewhere established as a non-for-profit art museum and art organization in 2003, and has received grants from established local and national funders, including the National Endowment for the Arts, the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts, the North Carolina Arts Council, the United Arts Council of Greater Greensboro, and the Future Fund of Greensboro [4][5] .
