Bio

About me  

I am a student and an artist; I have interests in a wide range of mediums. Pen and ink drawing is my main field of interest, MC Escher is an interesting artist whom I have always appreciated in his abstract art. Eventually I hope to go into Graphic design or animation as a future career. I love reading, mostly sci-fi and fantasy. Ever since I was little I have been interested mythology I always found it interesting how different cultures explained good and evil and just the human condition through stories.

My Wikipedia interests

as a student my main interest will be for study and future assignments. I do hope to find more use for it than just class. I have used Wikipedia in past classes many times and it has most always helped find the information i needed. In the future I hope to be able to make changes for the benefit of the reader and researcher.

Article Evaluation

Neurodiversity

I visited the Wikipedia artical on Neurodiversity as it is a wide-ranging subject that encompasses the autism spectrum. I know many neurodivergent people who have different and similar experiences. The subject is especially important because it is common, and it is not abnormal as it is stigmatized in many cases. In the Wikipedia article I found citations that were more than 6 years old, a common reptations of what it is and how it is normal compared to neurotypical people and not much information on the science of it. I do believe it is important to know all the various aspects but, in the wiki, they mostly encompassed the social one.  

Citations  

Many of the citations in the article were more than six years old, some almost ten. Most of them were not cited in the article making it hard to tell where what went. Mostly there were articles that repeated information over and over leaving some outdated. The number of citations was a bit over kill with certain aspects and could have been clearer.

Repetition

Throughout the article it talks about societal stigmas and bias and how they are incorrect. It has a general overview of neurodiversity, but it focuses on the societal impact and how neurodiversity is not a disease rather just how some brains function. But while that is all completely true the article has at least more than half of the page and the citations focusing on that with little about the brain function and the more scientific side of it.

Science

Neurodivergent people are a lot of the time more adept at figuring out problems and tech than neurotypical people. Thier brains are hardwired to be able to recognize patterns and figure out problems in diverse ways. And I think that aspect of it they should have a bit more information on that side of it. Though It does supply a list of the many distinct types of neurodiversity, such as ADHD and dyslexia, it still doesn’t explain why brain function causes these traits.

Summary

Overall, the article did encompass the important thing and had many citations leading to many people's experience with being on the spectrum. It is a subject that branches off so extensively that it is sometimes hard to understand and follow all the various aspects of it. Wikipedia did a relatively decent job with this subject, although the page could use some more information in general with another overview of its citations.
