Hi, I am Dr. Sunil kumar Leishangthem, MBBS, currently working under Manipur Health Services as a medical officer. I am a wildlife enthusiast, extremely intersted in wildlife, specially the big cats and fishes. Before entering the medical line, I was very much interested in Zoology with innate wildlife interests.

I have visited the Ranthambore national park, the keibul Lamjao National Park, Yangou pokpi-Lokchao sanctuary, Shirui national park, etc. Currently posted in the hilly district of ukhrul in Manipur, I saw frequent killings and open sale of wild animals like wild boar, deer, and even a black panther recently. Our region is a neglected and underestimated one, this being the main reason for the global non-recognition of wildlife survey or existence or conservation in the region, despite the rich diversity of this tropical region.

Anybody can see the difference of the Manipur state zoo and other zoos of other states. A single leopard is the only big cat , Sangai population is lesser than Guwahati or Delhi zoos.. But nobody appears to bother.Seeing the lack of enthuaiastic efforts for conservation in the state despite being rich in wildlife diversity, compared to other states, I came up with the concept of publishing articles and introducing wildlife enthusiastic works.
