Marwa Youssef Youssef Elbesiky (Arabic مروى يوسف يوسف البسيقي ) obtained a Bachelor of Arts, Department of Philosophy from the Faculty of Arts, Kafr El-Sheikh University, Egypt (2000). Three years later in 2003, she completely changed her career from philosophy to programming and obtained a programming course (Java) from Sun Microsystems, Inc., a former American manufacturer of computers and she worked as an Instructor Java programming for 3 months. Marwa changed her career for the second time and began studying law until she obtained a doctorate degree in criminal law with a grade of excellent at the Faculty of Law, Alexandria University, Egypt from 2004 to 2019.

Academic career Marwa Elbesiky holds a PhD in Criminal Law, Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) degree, and diplomas in criminal science and public law from the University of Alexandria, Egypt. She has been an intern at the Pre-Trial Chambers of the ICC and participated in the opening of the Confirmation of Charges Hearing, Cas Bosco Ntaganda (February 10, 2014). Her professional interests include international criminal and humanitarian law, corruption, money laundering, and asset recovery. She is responsible as CMN Fellow https://www.casematrixnetwork.org/about-us/cmn-fellows/ for the content- maintenance and -development of the folders for Bahrain, Chad, Djibouti, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Mauritania, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Syria, United Arab Emirates, and Yemen in the National Jurisdictions Collection of the Legal Tools Database, as a public interest service at Centre for International Law Research and Policy. Marwa obtained the “WILIG Mentoring Program» from the American Society of International Law Women in International Law (WIL) Washington, D.C.

Publications

Marwa is the author of 6 legal articles and editor of one book and on a wide range of legal issues, including International Criminal Law, Comparative Criminal Law, Human Rights, and US Criminal Law. One of his latest articles is a contribution to the legal article "Les mécanismes d'entraide judiciaire entre l'Egypte et la Suisse" Marwa Youssef's contribution was devoted to the mutual legal assistance treaty between Egypt and Switzerland in criminal matters.
