Dr. Gaurav Garg

Gaurav Garg (born 1989) is a vibrant and experienced Indian ophthalmologist and is currently the director and chief surgeon of the new age clinic View Care. An AIIMS alumnus who later went on to complete his fellowship in Centre for Sight under the proficient guidance of Dr. Santosh G Honavar, post which he continued his journey of fellowship in the prestigious The New York Eye Cancer Center and The New York Eye and Ear Infirmary, Mount Sinai. After his stint in USA, he served for 6 months under the charitable Shri Sadguru Seva Sangh Trust, Chitrakoot, India. A former secretary of Ophthalmic Research Association(ORA) and the batch representative for two years in a row, he is widely acclaimed for Doctoral Thesis selected as E- poster for World Ophthalmology Congress, 2018. He is counted among one of the youngest achievers in the field of Ophthalmology to receive awards on international platforms like Asia-Pacific Vitreo-retina Society (APVRS) Congress and Asia-Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology (APAO).

Biography

Dr. Gaurav Garg, born in Delhi to Mr. Brham Prakash Garg and Mrs. Kamlesh Garg, graduated in medicine from Government Kilpauk Medical College and Hospital, Chennai, Tamil Nadu and did his post graduation and junior residency in Comprehensive Ophthalmology from All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi. He went on to pursue his clinical fellowship in Centre for Sight, Hyderabad where he had the opportunity to learn and practice Ocular Oncology, Oculoplastic and Facial Surgery under the able guidance of Dr. Santosh G Honavar. After almost a stint of two years and gaining an expertise on Retinoblastoma, Dacryology and Ocular trauma, orbital surgeries and lid surgeries, ocular surface surgeries along with facial aesthetics, he expanded his horizon and moved on the United States to New York Eye Cancer Center and The New York Eye and Ear Infirmary, Mount Sinai to specialize further in Ocular Tumors, Ophthalmic Radiation therapy and Orbital Inflammatory disease under [Paul Finger]. Upon successful completion of his tenure and on his return to India, he joined the charitable Shri Sadguru Seva Sangh Trust, Chitrakoot, India, where he further perfected and honed his skills on Orbit & Oculoplasty. Apart from being associated currently with major eye centres across Delhi NCR as visiting consultant and surgeon, he is also the founder, director and chief surgeon of View Care, an independent super specialized eye clinic in New Delhi.


Legacy

Although a word used for someone who has a backing or has quite a lot of years of experience , Dr.Garg , a self-made medical practitioner with an experience of just more than half a decade has started building one for himself. In his stint with Shri Sadguru Seva Sangh trust, he not only acted as one of the senior faculty for Ocular Oncology services, but also was the pioneer in Bone Marrow Aspiration for Lymphoma and Pediatric Tumors. The spree continued as he went on with First CSF Aspiration for Lymphoma and Pediatric Tumor and later introduced the practice of Injection and Topical Interferon in Ocular Surface Squamous Neoplasia in the institute. He also inculcated the practice of Chemotherapy for Retinoblastoma there and standardized the radiological and pathological protocols for ocular oncology. Within a short period, he has also trained and guided several fellow and residents of the institute and instilled in them the medical practices that still lives on.
