Pitching Woo was a live music band from East of Melbourne (Australia), producing melodic indie rock during the early 21st century. The most recent incarnation of the band consisted of Hugh Counsell (lyrics, guitar), Donovan Joel Lawrence (guitar, harmonies), Nathaniel Raymond Reeves (keys, noise, harmonies), Corey Jones (bass), and Marius Abbott (drums). Influenced by a multitude of artists and genres, pitching woo have been likened in style to bands including Radiohead, Snow Patrol, Augie March, and Death Cab for Cutie. The band name 'pitching woo' originated from a slang term describing courtship [1] and/or 'the enticement towards an offering' [2] , and the name can be interpreted in a variety of contexts, including 1950's sub-culture.[3] The band's music is available on major streaming platforms, and an E.P. 'Yours, etc.' is also sporadically available for purchase on familiar trading sites.
