Michael Whiddett, (born 10 January 1981) also known as "Mad Mike", is a drifting racer from Auckland, New Zealand.
He is sponsored by Red Bull and Metal Mulisha in addition to a factory sponsor by Mazda[1][2]
He is known for his drifting with three different Mazdas [3]
switched from freestyle motocross to drifting in 2006 where he had greater success in since.[4]
He is credited for conceiving Red Bull Drift Shifters, a solo drifting competition that takes place in Auckland City in which drivers are given 70 seconds to gain as much points as possible over a course

Whiddett's first car was the rotary powered Mazda 323; by the time he was 20 years of age, he went through fifteen different cars[2]

Mike began his motorsport career in motocross from the age of six, placing 2nd at the 1997 New Zealand Junior Motocross Championship 85cc.[1]
