IFMAR 1:10 Scale 235mm On-Road World Championship for the short lived 1:10 Scale 235mm track cars, it was introduced in 1998 as a support class to its faster but demanding and expensive 1:8 counterpart.

Originally conceived by Michael Salven, a German engineer for Serpent in 1993 as a stepping stone alternative to the fast but highly demanding and expensive 1:8 Scale counterpart, widely regarded as a Formula One equivalent in R/C racing circles.[1]

The World championship was inaugurated in 1998 for two classes; Class I for sportcar racing bodies and Class II for touring car bodies.

Following that, Class I was discontinued in favor of the touring car category.[N 1]

The class began to reveal its flaws as manufacturers unsuccessfully attempted to adapt its designs to 4WD, making it a smaller but no less expensive alternative to 1:8 scale cars. Also it faced competition with the highly successful but far less expensive ISTC class that dominated the racing scene. Serpent was forced to respond with the Impulse, the first 200mm nitro touring car specialized for professional racetrack driving, leading to other manufacturers to integrate into the new category, including Kyosho, who had introduced a gas powered road car based counterpart back in 1989.[N 2]

Following the 2002 Worlds, the blocs voted to discontinue the 2WD race for the 4WD equivalent to run alongside the newly introduced 200mm nitro touring car equivalent, introduced in 2002 as a World Cup round[3] but due to its poor showing of the 2004 pre-Worlds event as popularity for the class had terminally declined, the class was eventually discontinued following an unanimous votes by the four blocs[4] and NTC (by now an official World Championship event) became a single class event like all other gas powered events and took over the role of being a support class to its 1:8 sport bodied counterpart.

The 235mm class is the only championship to have never been hosted by either FEMCA and FAMAR blocs, let alone its drivers winning it as by the time the championship rotated to the FAMAR bloc, per IFMAR rulebook, it was discontinued.
