Hello and welcome to my DoktorScience User Profile.

I’m a retired scientist who worked at one of the Department of Energy’s (DOE) National Laboratories for over 30 years before retiring in 2020. While I’m mostly retired now, I still do a little consulting for DOE on matters relating to science and national security. I have a PhD in organic chemistry and an absolute love of science, engineering, math… anything technical. For many years, I started each day listening to National Public Radio, which would air a short comedic bit called Ask Dr. Science.  If you’re too young to remember this show, here’s more information [http://www.drscience.com]

I loved those hilarious bits and thus my User Name (DoktorScience) as all the “Doctor Science” variations were taken.

Unlike the original Dr. Science, I want to use the knowledge and experience gained working in science my entire adult life to help improve Wikipedia. I feel it is very important that information, particularly technical information on Wikipedia, be accurate because these days so many people use it like an Encyclopedia. That said, I no longer have access to chemistry labs, so I also plan to contribute on topics like cooking (chemistry at home where you get to eat the product), hunting, and other areas of interest to me. Now it’s time for my new technical challenge: becoming a productive, and hopefully constructive, Wikipedia contributor.
