I only occasionally contribute to WIkipedia. Leaving comments on my talk page with an expectation that I will answer quickly is not a good idea.
Contributions
[edit]In the past I made the following two proposals:
Sturm-Liouville Orthogonality proof, and
Associated Legendre Functions Orthonormality proof.
Wikipedia editors rejected both stating effectively that Wikipedia doesn't do proofs. However, both are now housed on Citizendium at Associated Legendre Functions orthonormality proofs and Sturm-Liouville theory orthogonality proof. Citizendium seemed more opened minded about the whole issue of proofs. The proof page for Associated Legendre Funtions includes an additional proof of a separate orthogonality relationship. These proofs are now also available on ProofWiki - Orthogonality of the Associated Legendre Functions and Orthogonality of Solutions to the Sturm-Liouville Equation with Distinct Eigenvalues.
The original proofs are listed on subpages in my namespace on Wikipedia for the two associate topic areas: Sturm-Liouville and Legendre
