Evergreen Architectural Arts is a large decoration and restoration company founded around 1978 by Jeff Greene in New York City as a painting business. It has grown into a 200M business with a core team of 175 individuals. It has been involved in numerous prominent restoration projects as well as the creation of new decorations using a mix of old and new techniques.
History
[edit]Greene worked for a company painting billboards in Times Square after he had graduated from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 1976. During a labor dispute, he founded Evergreene Painting Company.[1] He bartered his work for free lunches or credit at art supply companies.[2]

[edit]Tishman Speyer, hired Evergreene for a three year project restoring the Jose Sert and Frank Brangwyn murals in 30 Rockefeller Center. The goal was to remove built up dirt and a varnish that had been applied in the 1970's. During the six month pilot project, they determined that bone folders, typically used in bookbinding, could burnish the varnish, making it easier to remove.[3]
