Hi I am David and I only have WikiWikiWeb experience. I have worked in IT for quite a number of years but have functioned more like a developer than a programmer, in Programming_in_the_large teams. Started here 26 September 2005 (UTC)
I am not a native English speaker, and do not yet know the markup language of this wiki.
I am hoping to learn and later, contribute material of use to people with similar work interests.
If you would like to address to me on a talk page with other Davids around, call me DavidL then.
I am impressed by these pages in other wikis:
- Barn Raising at MeatBall
- (C2 wiki wise page) Need to remind myself, and often missed
- I need awareness of how things work quickly
- GeraldWeinberg view on root cause of most project problems
I am also looking looking for longterm WikiPedia IT article contributor(s) who can offer me mentoring on this site.
- In addition, I am seeking an ICT page on this site where a lot of contributors hang around in a more relaxed manner.
- My Wikipedia_todo.
- My ItTech_todo.
- My Misc_todo
Thanks for checking out this page.
Identified Wikipedia pages of interest (not watching it per se)
[edit]I would like to see if and how these pages can be linked / merged to the benefit of all concerned

Need to find answers quick
[edit]- If I create a page but it has not received bad comments for a month, can I assume it will not be deleted without a "due process"?
- If I did an edit and want to reverse it, is there a "undo" mechanism that does not clog up "recent changes"?
- How to avoid dreaded EditWars of well meaning people with strong opposing views?
- Are there locations in meta where a new participant gets to see the "collective view" of community towards the "reputation" of a page? If a page is hotly contested, I think as a new person I better stay away
- Where to ask "General questions" on computing related topics? An example would be quick question on "which unix subsystem recommended for WindowsXp and why?" Note some talk pages are huge and structured, e,g. Talk (Linux) and others are almost empty Talk history(XMLHTTP)
- Some pages are huge and may start to look award as a single entity (e.g. XML). Any mechanisms exist to have these split up?
