Brunel Technology Society, more popularly Brunel Tech Society (or informally, TechSoc), is a student society for technology enthusiasts, computer programmers, and students in technology related degrees for Brunel University London.[1]
Brunel Tech Society is the recognized academic student society for the Department of Computer Science, and the official British Computer Society Student Chapter at Brunel University[2]. It is registered as a general interest student organisation under the Union of Brunel Students.[3]
Events and Services
[edit]Membership of the society has been free to all Brunel undergraduate and postgraduate students since its founding.
The Society provides a free, limited web hosting service to all members who apply for it.[4]
The Society hosts monthly socials featuring lightning talks, which are occasionally filmed and uploaded to YouTube[5].
History
[edit]The Society is first founded in 2011, refounded in 2013, and converted into a British Computer Society Student Chapter in 2015.
A constitutional change is also voted into effect in 2015 that created two new officer roles, the Digital Engagement Officer, and the Raise and Give Officer.

Funding

[edit]The budget of the society comes mostly from funding from the College of Engineering, Design and Physical Sciences. Additional Funding sources include the Department of Computer Science, and the Society Guild of Union of Brunel Students.
External Funding and Sponsorships
[edit]The British Computer Society is the main external sponsor of the society. Current and past commercial sponsors include Accenture.
