Kenny Sebastian
[edit]Kenneth Sebastian (born 31st December 1990) popularly nicknamed as Kenny Sebastian is Indian comedian, musician and film-maker. He is one of the youngest and very talented comedians in India. He is best known on YouTube for his comedy videos and as an Improv actor. He has done more than 500 shows including those on the Canvas Laugh Factory.
Early life
[edit]Kenny Sebastian, born to Pala parents on December 31, 1991 in Kerala, India.[1] He is Christian by religion and Malayali by tongue. He was raised in various parts of India as his dad was a Navy personnel and his mom is a housewife. Kenny likes comic drama, singing, however wanted to be a producer and he began making films at the age of 15.[2] He comes from a humble background and credits his parents for being supportive. After his fathers' retirement his family moved to Bangalore and now at present he is living there.
Schooling
[edit]He finished his primary education from Kendriya Vidyalya.[3] In his school days, he had terrible stage fear. So he intentionally attempted to get over it, by putting himself in front of an audience and by making discourses and speeches. In his eleventh grade he once used his companion’s handy-cam and instantly fell in love with it and wanted to do films. But his father advised him to complete his studies first. After four year, he completed his bachelor’s in Visual Arts from Chitrabala Parishath College, Karnataka. But in college he found his desire for stand-up comedy and he participated in Mood Indigo festival at IIT. He won that competition and proceeded as an exceptional stand-up entertainer.
Personal Life
[edit]Kenny Sebastian's father, mother and sibling's name are not available on the internet. Sebastian is unmarried and is currently not known for dating anyone. He is now Abish Mathews roommate in Mumbai, India.
Career

[edit]Kenny Sebastian began making films when he was 15. Around then he didn't own a camera, so obtained one from his friend and continued shooting. By the age of just 23, Kenny had effectively coordinated 12 short movies and 2 highlight films.[4] Some of his works as film-maker are This Side Up (2011), Journey to the Center of My Brain (2014) and Don't Make That Face by Naveen Richard (2017).[5]
The YouTuber
[edit]Kenny began his YouTube channel 'Kenny Sebastian' on April 14, 2008 with his first video called "9 hours to live". He initially made spoofs and secured well known melodies and gradually picked up supporters.Currently, his channel has more than 1.2 million subscribers and 40 million+ views.[6]
The Musician
[edit]Although with no formal training in music, Kenny is an accomplished vocalist and guitarist. He has covered many popular Bollywood tracks on his YouTube channel. He is frequently seen bringing out his guitar in midst of his comedy routines to do some musical humor. He also released a self-produced acoustical blues album called “Balance”.
The Stand up Comedian
[edit]Kenny started his comedy journey at the age of 19 years when he visited the IIT Mumbai fest. He describes that experience as "My strength has always been improvisation. I have never been able to remember scripts. So I just got on stage and spoke of my experience in IIT Mumbai so far. The crowd loved it and I won the competition and won 10 grands; it was a big deal for me. It was the very first time I had won something."
After this there was no stopping. He found a new interest in stand up and started doing more and more open mics in Bangalore. He was a improviser whether it was comedy or music. After finding a zest at comedy, he started doing 5,10,20 minutes spots in various comedy shows. He would even make humorous songs on the spot during his musical shows, this way he used to practice his comedy and improvising skills. During one such show, the owner of The Comedy Store appreciated him and gave him a spot at his show. After on he met various comedians like Kanan Gill, Biswa Kalyan Ruth, Tanmay Bhat. During those times the fame of youtube was rising and it was during that time i.e. in 2009 when he started his youtube channel. His youtube views started rising after his first web series ' Star Boyz'. He has series of short videos of musical humour known as 'Chai Time with Kenny' which is one of his most popular work. His recent series Die Trying prooved to be very successful[7].
Growth
[edit]Since the start of his profession, Kenneth has never thought back. He has done more than 500 shows and performed alongside numerous renowned comedian, for example, Vir Das, Phil Nichol (UK), Raj Sharma (US, HBO), Imran Yusuf (UK), Tanmay Bhat of AIB and some more.

[edit]Kenny is currently working on the second season of his satirical web series “Star Boyz”, along with comedians Naveen Richard and Mani Prasad. He is also working on the second season of “Chai Time With Kenny Sebastian”. He has a United States tour lined up, and will also release a one-hour stand-up special.
