'Groove Thang Band' The Groove Thang Band is a 7pc variety dance band that performs cover music and original material. The band is based in Sacramento, California and was formed in 2005 by John Espinoza, i.e., Disco Johnny. His concept was to create a great dance band based on disco-era music that he grew up with in the late 1970's. The original forming members include mega vocalist Carol "Diva G" Garcia and keyboard player Jo Jo Montalbo. They began covering Donna Summer, Tina Turner songs and produced an excellent disco era show. In 2006, vocalist/performer Mark Love joined the band as a male front man to add variety to the show. After a few years the band went through several male lead vocals and expanded their music genres to include rock, r&b, country, acoustic, jazz and blues so that they could fulfill the needs of any client.
In 2010, the band's founders John Espinoza and Carol Garcia began to write and record original material. In 2012, the band released "Write You A Letter" and "Funk Masta Fly" under the name Diva G and The Groove Thang. In late 2015, the band is set to release it's debut album "Over The Moon" containing 8 tracks of original material.
