This page is for detailing the many weapons in our society.

Guns

Guns are machines designed for combat. They can fire a variety of ammunition, though most of them fire bullets.

Handguns

Handguns are small guns that can be held with 1 hand, hence the name.

  • Pistol: A small gun normally used for medium ranged combat & self-defense. They aren't the most powerful guns, but tend to have plenty of ammo.
  • Revolver: A repeating gun with a revolving cylinder containing multiple chambers & at least 1 barrel for firing. These guns typically have less ammo per clip than pistols, but are generally more powerful.
  • Machine pistol: A small gun capable of either fully automatic or burst fire. While they have good firing speeds, they also tend to have less accuracy than normal pistols.

Shotguns

A Shotgun is a long gun that fires multiple pellets per shot, making it excellent for short range combat. These pellets spread away from eachother as they travel.

  • Pump-action: The most common type in video games. A pump handle has to be pushed back in-between shots to eject used shells.
  • Double-barreled shotgun: A shotgun with 2 parallel barrels, allowing 2 shots to be fired in quick succession.
  • Lever-action: A type of shotgun that uses a lever located around the trigger guard area to eject shells.
  • Semi-automatic: A type of shotgun that automatically ejects spent shells when fired, allowing for rapid fire.

Rifles

A Rifle a firearm with a stock and a barrel that has a spiral groove or grooves ("rifling") cut into its interior.

  • Sniper rifle: A type of rifle designed for long range combat. They tend to fire slowly, but their shots are powerful.
  • Assault rifle: A type of rifle with rapid fire action. A well known example is the ever powerful AK-47.
  • Anti-tank rifle: A rifle that is designed to penetrate the armor of tanks. They are similar to sniper rifles.

Machine guns

A Machine gun is a gun that that fires quickly. They can be mounted or portable

  • Gatling gun: A massive, crank operated gun with an extremely high rate of fire.
  • Minigun: Similar to the gatling gun, although these are operated using a button rather than a crank.

Melee weapons

These weapons are designed for close-quarter combat. Most melee weapons don't require ammunition.

Bladed weapons

Any weapon with a sharp edge of some kind is considered a bladed weapon.

Swords

[edit]

A Sword is an edged weapon with a handle for easy holding & swinging. They are primarily used for slashing & thrusting.

  • Katana: A traditional Japanese tool with a curved blade.
  • Dao: A single-edged Chinese sword designed for chopping & slashing. Some varieties have a wide blade.
  • Scimitar: A backsword or saber with a curve at the end of the blade.

Knives

A Knife is a cutting tool with a cutting edge or blade. They are smaller than swords, making them easier to conceal.

  • Cleaver: A large knife designed for cutting through bone. They normally sport a rectangle-shaped blade.
  • Machete: This knife is similar to the cleaver, but with a more traditional blade. These were made through cutting through thick plants.
  • Kukri: Similar to the machete, but with a more curved blade.
  • Dagger: A fighting weapon designed for killing.

Axes

An Axe is a cutting tool normally shown as a large blade attached to a long handle. The cutting ends can have either 1 or 2 cutting edges.

  • Hand axe: Similar to a regular axe, although it doesn't have a handle.
  • Hatchet: Made small & light so that it could be used with 1 hand.
  • Battle axe: An axe specifically designed for combat. These tend to have longer handles than regular axes.
  • Throwing axe: An axe designed for throwing. Exactly as you'd expect.

Saws

A Saw is a tool with a blade, wire or chain that has a toothy edge. These tools are designed for cutting thick materials.

  • Rip saw: Also known as a "wood saw", this tool is designed for cutting wood.
  • Circular saw: A power-saw with a circular blade or disc, designed for cutting different materials using a rotary motion spinning around an arbor.
  • Chain saw: An engine-driven wire saw normally used for cutting down trees.

Spears

A Spear is a pole weapon with a sharp, pointy tip at the end for impaling.

  • Harpoon: A fishing spear that normally has a rope or chain attached to the dull end.
  • Trident: A spear with 3 prongs instead of 1.

Farming tools

Just because these tools were made for cutting plants doesn't mean they can't kill.

  • Scythe: A grass cutting tool that is structured as a curved blade at the end of a long pole.
  • Sickle: Similar to the scythe, but with a more C-shaped blade & a shorter handle.

Blunt weapons

These weapons are designed to do damage through bludgeon rather than cutting.

Hand tools

Hand tools are used for a variety of things, including self-defense.

  • Hammer: A tool with a blunt end & a clawed end. These are normally used for driving nails into wood.
    • Sledgehammer: Much bigger & heavier than an ordinary hammer, these were designed for demolishing walls.
  • Crowbar: An iron bar with a curved end & flattened points, normally used for prying things.

Clubs

A Club is a very simple weapon. This one is essentially a short staff or stick made from a hard substance such as wood.

  • Baseball bat: A type of club normally used for hitting baseballs.
  • Baton: A short club that is less than arm's length.
  • Kanabō: A club covered in tiny iron spikes or studs.
  • Nunchaku: A traditional martial arts weapon consisting of 2 sticks connected at 1 end by a rope or chain.
